Alliance Shippers Equips Intermodal Fleet with StarTrak's ReeferTrak^® Wireless Monitoring Solution

Morris Plains, NJ, August 20, 2004 - StarTrak LLC, a leading provider of advanced wireless asset management systems for monitoring and control of cold chain assets for the freight transportation industries, announced today that Alliance Shippers, one of North America's largest independently-owned providers of global logistics and transportation services, has deployed StarTrak's ReeferTrak^® system on its fleet of refrigerated intermodal trailers.

Alliance has begun outfitting its fleet with ReeferTrak^® Commander^™ - a satellite-based management solution that gives refrigerated transport companies full two-way command and control authority over their reefer assets and loads while in transit. ReeferTrak^® Commander is incorporated in more than 100 of Alliance Shippers' refrigerated intermodal trailers. By the end of August, 500 reefers will feature the new technology. The total size of Alliance Shippers' refrigerated fleet is 1,360 units.

The ReeferTrak^®Commander solution uses satellite-based communications and services to provide in-transit asset visibility throughout North America. Because it uses very low power, the ReeferTrak^®system is always available to transmit messages and receive remote polls and commands. Should a problem occur while a refrigerated trailer is in transit, the StarTrak network will automatically notify Alliance Shippers' dispatchers of the event within minutes. ReeferTrak^®Commander also allows Alliance to instantly access real-time information about the operational state and condition of a reefer unit so that the appropriate corrective action can be taken.
